So… I Published a Book (After a Lot of Confusion)

For a very long time, publishing a book felt like one of those mysterious things only “real authors” could do.

You know… the kind who understand ISBN numbers, formatting rules, covers, marketing, and all the other things that sound terrifying when you first hear about them.

Meanwhile, I was sitting there thinking:

"How hard can it really be?"

Well.

Let’s just say… it took me a while.

The Truth About My First Publishing Attempt

When I first tried to publish a book, I thought it would be simple.

Write the book.
Upload the book.
Done.

But very quickly I discovered things like:

• formatting problems
• margin issues
• cover sizes
• ISBN questions
• categories
• keywords
• Amazon dashboards that look like airplane control panels

At one point I honestly thought my laptop might explode.

Or I might.

Slowly… It Started Making Sense

But something funny happened.

The more mistakes I made, the more I learned.

Little by little the puzzle pieces started fitting together.

How to format a manuscript.
How to create a cover.
How to upload to Amazon.
How the publishing system actually works.

And after a while I realized something important:

Publishing a book is not impossible.
It’s just confusing the first time.

Why I Wrote This Little Book

After going through the whole process myself, I thought:

"I wish someone had just explained this simply."

So I decided to create a small guide called:

How to Publish Your First Book.

It's not a big complicated manual.

It's more like a friendly explanation of everything I learned - the mistakes, the steps, and the things I wish I had known earlier.

I also wrote it in a light, slightly funny way, because honestly… the process can be stressful enough.

Just In Case Some of You Are Thinking the Same

Many mums who read The Playful Attic are creative people.

You write.
You journal.
You create things.

So I thought I would share this here just in case one day some of you might also be thinking about publishing something of your own.

Maybe a story.
Maybe a children's book.
Maybe a journal or planner.

If that thought has ever crossed your mind, then this little guide might help you understand how the whole process actually works.

Because once you understand it…

It suddenly becomes much less scary.

Where to Find the Book

My guide How to Publish Your First Book is now available on Amazon.

It walks through the publishing process step by step in a beginner-friendly way, so you don't have to go through the same confusion I did in the beginning.
